Mave's Surf and Turf Burger

I want you all to know I'm posting the following out of great fear for my health and safety because my uber fabulous friend the Mallow Fairy (aka freakin Sugarplumb Fairy) has deemed what she refers to as "sea bugs" as being unfit for human consumption.

But I say, these bugs is good eatin!

Just do me a favour and don't tell her I'm posting this, okay?

Excellent!

The original recipe for these very unique burgers was in a magazine the PB was reading.

Apparently he finished his crossword and picked up my copy of Better Homes and Gardens while in the john

As an aside, why do I always manage to marry the toilet and the PB to my blogs about food?

Anways, the recipe didn't really appeal to me, but he was insistent that he wanted to try this.

So I took it and tweaked it by adding fresh lemon juice and basil (what else is new?)

I've now made the recipe twice to rave reviews and quite like it myself.

So, without further ado,

Mave's Adapted Surf and Turf Burger

Here's what you'll need:

For the Burgers

Four green onions, chopped medium fine
Two tbsp parsley, chopped very fine
Two tbsp prepared horseradish
Two tsp dijon mustard
One tsp garlic powder or one tsp Clubhouse Montreal; Steak Spice (I love this in burgers)
salt
ground black pepper

Shape meat into patties and place patties in a single layer on a small cookie sheet or serving tray.

Cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Meanwhile stir one cup cooked shrimp with 1/4 cup seafood cocktail sauce and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

Grill the burgers.

Spread Miracle Whip on both sides of a hamburder bun then layer about 1/4 cup of fresh chopped basil, lettuce, the burger, and top with the shrimp in sauce.

Finally, eat and enjoy!

The Surf and Turf Burger - an interesting twist on an everyday classic creates Kitchen Magic at it's best.

Until next time friends!

I like this - but then, cholesterol isn't a problem for me.

Aside: My GOOD cholesterol is too low. My Doc says there are only two things that will affect it - Exercise and Alcohol. I know what you are thinking, but I already have the Alcohol part covered, so my options are kinda slim.

This one does pack that cholesterol punch. God, I hate getting to an age where we have to think about these things!

I'm inclined to exercise today, if I could just put this vodka down...

Ha!!

Ha! I don't know which I like better, this recipe or your comment about the vodka! LOL

Seriously.

Sea.

Bugs.

I don't care if they are the little ones. Gross.

It could be worse. It could be the big ones. I will happily sit and catch Dungeness all day long. Won't eat'em. Don't even get me started on the foulness that is lobster. ;p

Mr. Fairy would probably love these though. :D

I'll cook em for him then!
